Silent Sunday

I haven't taken alot of pictures lately but here are some from a few weeks ago.

Here we are trying on our snow suits. It was 35 last night so we need to be prepared in case it SNOWS!
Trying on the birthday crowns I attempted to make. I think I should stick to scrapbooking.

Yours, Mine, Ours

Lily's new thing while at the dinner table is taking Preston's cup and giving him hers. She then says "it's yours" in the sweetest lowest little voice. So cute, I wish I could get her on video but they see the camera and stop all performing. Another thing that she is doing, that leaves us wondering where did she learned that, is she points to Aaron or I and says "mine". Preston often has a look of confusion. I guess with twins the jealousy is to be expected but not at 22 months!
Preston is very much a climber and tests his limits daily hourly. I have found him sitting in the middle of our pub height dining room table, trying to climb on the counter in the kitchen and always on the back of the couch. Lets just say time out is something he DOES NOT like but for his safety it is well desrved.
I keep my sanity by going somewhere everyday. We go to the park, play group, grocery store, pick up Ashley at school. The daily car rides are something to look forward to when your a toddler.

Happy Fall Ya'll

I love fall. It's my most favorite time of the year. The air gets crisp and the leaves start to change. Today we kicked off the fall season by making a pumpkin pie dip. I got this recipe as part of my recipe swap and it was very yummy! Here are a few pictures of the babies cleaning up the dip.

Silent Sunday

Ask Lily to smile and this is what you get.
I just want a hug
Ashley why is your hand pink, oh she colored it with a highlighter.
She looks worried
MOMMY, MOMMY, MOMMY
I wonder how far I will get before she notices I am gone.

Getting ready for Halloween

I have always loved Halloween. Probably because fall is my favorite time of year. I love all the colors of the leaves and the changing of the seasons. A couple of days ago I tried the babies Halloween costumes on. Now I don't spend a whole lot of money on Halloween. I don't care if the match I just want them to dress up and look cute. Lily is going to wear a bee costume that was cousin Presley's last year. We will have to put some long sleeves and leggings underneath it since it will probably be freezing or snowing on Halloween. Preston is going to be a dragon that I got from a friend of mine here.
Preston is growling like a dragon and chasing Lily. Their trick or treat bags: I embroidered.

Lots of learning

Before we went on our long vacation to Texas we would do animals, shapes, colors, numbers and basic words from time to time. I wanted to start a routine and set aside some morning time to do this daily. Once we got back I decided to do just that. Every morning after breakfast before the day gets too chaotic we work on our animals, shapes, colors, numbers and letters. After only doing this daily for 2 weeks I am happy to report that my kids are pretty good at this learning stuff. Maybe they had this information stored up there in their brains and they were just waiting for mommy to take the time to work with them one on one. Lily can sing all of her abc's, twinkle twinkle, and says more words than Preston but I can tell he is catching on. I will ask "What color is the tree" and Lily will say "green. I ask Preston "what color is the school bus" and he will say "yellow" Apparently yellow is the color of everything because if you ask what color is this and point to something he always says yellow.
I found the best way for my kids sit and have learning time is books or puzzles. We have a book of colors, shapes, animals, and numbers. We do the abc song on the computer from the fisher-price website. It doesn't end in the morning though through out the day I am always asking what color, how many: let's count, singing, asking what sound does something make. Hopefully they will be pretty smart when they go to school, if not we can hope for the cutest, hehe

Hope everyone has a good week.

Video of the babies playing yesterday

One of those mornings

Aaron left this morning to go to Calgary for the week. It's been a while since I have been home alone with the 3 kids and right now it exhausts me just thinking about it. The babies are turning into well gremlins, as we call them. It's constant whining, screaming, toy stealing, body flinging onto the floor, up, down, climbing and well you get the idea. They are really testing their limits. Yesterday Preston climbed onto our bar height patio table and stood up. He was not scared at all and thought it was totally funny when Aaron fussed at him. Last night at dinner Preston threw his fork and milk across the table. We gave him a warning after he threw the fork but then tried time out when he threw the milk. We have officially designated a time out spot. He got up a few times but I pulled a super nanny and kept putting him back. He then sat and cried for 2 minutes. Lily is not such a perfect little angel she sat in time out for climbing onto the side table in our living room.
So this morning when they started to get bored and whiney I went to the closet and got out all the hats, gloves and shoes I could find and put them in a pile in the middle of the living room. They had fun dressing up and acting silly. I am going to start scouring the internet now for indoor activities because it's going to be a long winter. If you have any indoor toddler activities I would love to hear them. It's nice outside now but super windy and only 60. Thank god we are going to Disney World in November and home for Christmas. That will help break up the long, cold winter with 2 two year olds.

Run for the cure

On October 4th I will be joinng some of my girlfriends to Run for the Cure. Our local moms group does this every year and Beth has been gracious enough to be the team captain and get us all motivated again this year. This is my first year running (or walking) I haven't worked out in a while so we will see. I have set up my donation page and would be so thankful if you helped me raise money for the Candian Breast Cancer Foundation. Click on the logo above to donate.

Thank you, although I only know one breast cancer survivor I know this disease affects thousands of families around the world every year. I am grateful to be running no matter what country I live in.

We'll start with a party

When we booked our trip to Houston I wanted to make sure I was in town for my cousin Evyn's first birthday. I love family get togethers. We usually sit around chit chatting and telling stories of years passed. The kids run a muck because well someone is watching them right. If not then someone will let you know if they are doing something wrong or nip the naughty behavior in the bud. Anyway this party was a little different because there was a pool involved. We needed as many adults as possible in the water. No problem for the sun worshipers, Meme and Aunt Dar. They floated around with the babies for quit a while before I finally got in. Thanks to all our family who helped us out on our trip. We had a blast! More pictures and posts to come. Gotta go get the gremlins up from their nap.
