Follow up Friday

Thank you to everyone who has participated over the last few months. I have really enjoyed opening up my mind and heart to answer your questions.

The Mommy Diaries asked: What is your dream job?
ANSWER: As most stay at home moms would say I am doing my dream job. Once the kids are in school I would love to open my own business. I am not sure if I want to pursue insurance since I was an agent before I had the twins I feel like I know so much about that field. I have thought about a day care as scrap booking store, Northwest Houston is in desperate need for one of these. Who knows maybe Cypress Calling will grow so big and we will have to hire staff to maintain the ministry. I already love to volunteer so to get paid for it would be a dream!

Robyn asked: Did the preserves arrive yet? There is a funny story to go with it! Enjoy your summer out and about. That is what we do!
ANSWER: No but I can't wait until they do. I will surely let you know. Thanks so much!

Joe asked: Since it's gonna be a while, you deserve a coupla questions:
If you could change one thing about your looks, what would it be? (I think you're lovely just as you are, by the way:)
ANSWER: For sure my momma fat on my belly. I wish my stomach was flat.

If you had to be on a reality tv show, which one would it be and why?
ANSWER: Well it wouldn't be American Idol.......... I can't sing at all! I loved that show Secret Millionaire that aired last year on Fox. It only lasted a few shows but we really enjoyed it. It was about these super rich people who go and live in a different side of town than they are used to. After a week and getting to know people in the community they pick a family to award $10,000 to. I would love to do that.

What is one food you refuse to eat?
ANSWER: Hmmmm well I never met a food I didn't like. I will usually try everything but if I don't like it I won't eat it again. One I can think of right now is liver and onions, been there, tried it and don't like it at all!

Annie asked:What kind of plans do you have for summer?
ANSWER: We have Aaron's mom, grandmother and his mom's best friend coming up to visit on June 10th for a week. Then we have my aunt, uncle and cousin coming on July 11th for 2 weeks. Me and the kids will fly to Texas with them on July 24th then Aaron will come down and meet us in Texas. We will go to Louisiana to visit his family then head back home. We are so excited to have people come to visit. The summer is really the best time here.

Do you have any vacation travel outside of United States or Canada?
ANSWER: I didn't tell you we are going to visit you in Puerto Rico........ just kidding.  No we figure if we are going to get on a plane we should head south to visit our family.

What kind of food the kids enjoy?
ANSWER: All kinds. They love fruit but I try not to give them too much because it gives them major dirty diapers. Lily doesn't like bananas or potatoes.

Do you prepare different snacks for the kids?
ANSWER: They eat an afternoon snack everyday after nap time, around 3. I try to make it healthy and not too much sugar. A few of their snacks are freeze dried fruit crisps, graham crackers with peanut butter, dried cranberries, cheese, goldfish crackers. I need to try and find some sort of veggies snacks.

Q & A Wednesday!

This will be my last Q & A Wednesday. I am taking the summer off. With all the adventures and traveling we will be doing I didn't want to have to worry about remembering to do it. Don't worry though now that winter is over and the sun is shining (on most days) we will be out and about. There will be lots of adventures and pictures to post about.

So ask away and come back on Friday for Follow Up Friday!

Silly things on a snowy day

yea for real, SNOW!!!! I mean come on it's the end of May. We woke up this morning to a very windy, snowy, grey day. It didn't stick around very long before it turned to rain but waking up to that was not part of my agenda today.  So since it was pretty crappy we decided to stay indoors. Things can get real boring for 2 toddlers when they can't go out to play. So far today we have colored, danced, played a matching game, peek a boo, sang songs, ran around getting mommy then running under my legs when they do get me, puzzles, laundry, watched Ellen, ate lunch and now are taking a nap. Whew are you tired yet?
Here are a few cute videos from this morning:

Follow Up Friday

Joe asked: What are your favourite colours (clothes) for the kids?
Answer: Preston, green and Lily purple. I love how those colors look against their olive skin tone.

The Mommy Diaries asked: If money were no object, where would you take a trip to?
Answer: Tahiti, Raiatea to be exact. I wouldn't mind going to New Zealand or The Great Barrier Reef either.

Mama Jean asked: If you would want to have them look like and have a character, who would you choose?
Answer: I am kind of confused by your question. Are you asking if the kids could look like another person? I don't think I would want them to look or act like anyone other than themselves, they're perfect.
Edit: I was in such a rush to answer these. I think this pretty weather has gone to my head. I read part of your question, Mama Jean and thought hmmmm they are perfect why would we change them. Now I get it. Of course we want them to look like Mama Jean and Popa. Don't apologize I should be the one apologizing, I need to read through better before I start typing. Love you and can't wait to see ya'll in 3 1/2 weeks!

RBBC

Random belly button check. No matter what he is doing, where he is going or what he is wearing, Preston will stop, lift his shirt and perform a rbbc. It's the funniest thing, but very strange at the same time.
It's alot better than what Lily is doing these days. Sticking her hand in her DIAPER. I thought she had some sort of infection or something but when I took her to the dr for her 18 month check up she was fine.
Just a quick post. I need to get dinner started, tuna steaks, potatoes and corn tonight. YUM!

Q & A Wednesday!

Ask away! I have been getting some really good ones lately.

This past week we have been getting caught up on all of our dvr shows. Especially since most of them ended or are ending soon for the summer. Tonight we have the American Idol finale. I am really pulling for Adam but I think Kris will take it. Who knows though both of them are really talented. I also got hooked on The Bachelorette so I will be watching that all summer to see who the Canadian, Jillian, chooses. Oh that reminds me I need to watch Dancing with the Stars to see who won the mirror ball!!
I will leave you with a few cute pictures:
Clap Lily, Clap

I had this toy in the garage to get rid of since they are too old for it now. Preston loves to push it up and down the drive way, so I guess we will keep it for now.
Just taking a Sunday drive to Home Depot!

Follow up Friday!

I know I know shame on me. How can I be too busy to follow up.

The Mommy Diaries asked: Wine or Beer?
Answer: I love the taste of beer, really I do. I like wine too it helps me relax and makes me sleepy.

Joe asked: What's the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?
Answer: That's a toughy. All I can think of right now is how my friends and family pulled together when I was pregnant and after I had the babies. When I was pregnant they came over and helped me organize the nursery, sort through clothes, helped with housework and helped us with Ashley. After the babies we had meals delivered and all the help we could ever ask for. I am so grateful to have amazing friends and family that I know I can turn to if I ever need anything.

18 months

She is turning into such a little helper. Pardon the crappy picture. I really should learn to use our fancy camera.

So 18 months has come and gone. I have been wanting to blog this for a few weeks and just haven't gotten around to it. Whoever said the first year is the hardest must have forgotten about 18 months!  I don't think the first year is harder just different. With 18 months they are just learning so much and wanting to go go go. Before now they would pretty much sit and play now they are learning they can open doors, push buttons, climb stairs and they also know they can get their way if they scream loud enough!!  Wow these kids are all over the place.  Not only are they starting to know exactly what they want but they will do anything possible to get it. ANYTHING from kicking, screaming and crying.  They have turned into demanding little toddlers.  Don't even think about putting Lily in her chair unless you have some food ON the table.  Not on the counter being cut up, not in the microwave being heated up.......... ON the table ready for her to come to the food, not the food come to her.  Preston is still pretty laid back in that area.  They both are using forks full time.  It's going well until Preston decides he wants to bang his fork pointy side down on the table.  Then Lily decides she can do it better and louder so it turns into a little competition.  We taught them to put their fork and cup on top of their plate and push it away when they are done. That is going well too, and thank god because turning your plate over and launching it onto the floor is not my idea of a fun after dinner activity.  Let me see what else is going on at the funny farm?  We turned Lily's car seat around. I finally feel like she has reached the weight and height requirement.  She loves it, her and Preston hold hands and pass snatch their toys back and forth.
Cute story: The other day at the grocery store the babies were in the cart (which is a double so they it side by side) when a little old lady came up and asked if they were a twin.  I replied yes then we went through the usual questions, how old, your hands are full, is it hard.  Just as she said they are so cute, Lily laid her head on Preston shoulder and Preston gave Lily a hug and patted her back. It melted my heart. She asked if they were always this sweet and I smiled and said yes!
Here is a picture taken the other day from my camera phone:

Q & A Wednesday!

Wow it's already that time. I am still thinking about the questions from last week. I still need to ask Aaron and Ashley their 5 words to describe me. So ask away and come back for Follow up Friday.
We are going to head outside today when the babies get up. It's really nice right now and supposed to be even better tomorrow.

Happy Mother's Day

To all the mom's and the ladies who are dreaming of being mom's. This is your day! I hope you get a chance to relax. I know I sure did, yesterday. I woke up bright and early and headed to the spa at 9 am. I got a massage, a pedicure, manicure and my eyebrows waxed. I feel like a new mommy. I got home just in time for Aaron to put the babies down for a nap. While they napped I did some scrap booking. Aaron boiled some lobster, you can see pics below. It was our first time boiling lobster at home and I must say they were really good. It's something we probably won't be getting at a restaurant anymore. After the babies went to bed Ashley and I went to Starbucks and to see the new X Men movie.
This morning Aaron got the babies up and was attempting to make me breakfast in bed but at 9 am I had to get up. It's nice sleeping in but I feel like I am wasting my day. We went to the bookstore and to eat lunch. I have been scrapping since we got home. I have so many layouts I want to get done and so many more pictures to go through that I could probably scrap everyday and still not be caught up.
What a great family I have and what a great mother's day/weekend I have had.

Silent Sunday!

Follow up Friday!

Joe asked: What would your dream home look like?
ANSWER: Well for starters it would have a wrap around porch. Then the kitchen would have dark cherry wood cabinets with granite countertops, tile floors and all stainless appliances. Tile through out the rest of the house except the family room would be carpet or laminate flooring. I love an open concept when you walk into a house and you can see the living, dining, kitchen and through the back door. A 3 car garage and covered back patio with an outdoor kitchen. It would be 4 bedroom with a game room and a media room. The yard would be beautifully landscaped too. Can you tell I have been thinking about this for quit some time?

The Mommy Diaries asked: I would love to hear your birth stories. Ashley, the babies, either one. I love reading birth stories! :-)

ANSWER: Well with both pregnancies I had toxemia (click here to read all about toxemia) right before by delivery date. Due to toxemia I was induced both times. With Ashley I went to the dr for my weekly check up and was advised to go to the hospital. I was given the cervix softening gel at 10 pm. My water broke at 7 am and I had her at 9:20 am.

With the twins I already had an induction date of 10-31-07. When I got to the hospital everything was fine but quickly started to go down hill as my blood pressure rose to 170/110. I was able to get an epidural, which I didn't get with

Ashley, the anesthesiologist didn't get there in time. The babies were born without c section at 11:09 and 11:11. Lily was double footed breech, thank god for that epidural!

Alicia asked: Hehe, you're right...I was lurking!!! Hmmmmmm, is there anything about living in Newfoundland that you prefer over living in Houston??

ANSWER: No traffic, ever!!! In Houston I lived 7 miles from my office and it would take about 30 mins (or more if there was an accident) to get there. Here it takes 10-15 mins to get anywhere. Also the summers aren't so hot and humid.

Andi asked: Do either of the babies look like Ashley did when she was a baby?

ANSWER: Yes, Lily does. Here is a picture of Ashley and Lily. Isn't it funny they both make the same face?

Jenn asked: Describe your perfect day (not weather wise...activity wise)

ANSWER: Me, Aaron and the kids would start out by going to eat a good breakfast. Then go to a beautiful place to have a walk and enjoy the fresh air. The afternooon would be spent playing at the park and eating ice cream then head to an Astros game. After the game Aaron and I would tuck the kids into bed and sneak out for a dinner date.

What is a regret that you live with?
ANSWER: I try not to live with regrets. Life should be about living it to it's fullest and not regretting decisions. Although I do have one, it's moving BACK up to Virginia after I was already back home in Texas. There really was no reason for me to go back to VA.

This will be fun...ask Aaron and Ashley to describe you in Five Words and report back.
ANSWER: I will but they aren't home so I will report back soon.

Would you rather be rich or famous?
ANSWER: Famous for doing something good in the world, hopefully.

Robyn asked: Does Preston throw everything as if it were a ball?
ANSWER: Thankfully no, not yet anyway. He has the temper but just throws himself on the floor for now.

Q & A Wednesday!

Hello there. It is a gorgeous day in Newfoundland. We spent the morning at a friends house playing outside, the babies love the fresh air and so does mommy because it helps them sleep a long time.
You know the drill, ask away, keep it clean and come back Friday for Follow Up Friday!

*Alicia I see you lurking....... I know there is something you have always wanted to ask.... here's your chance. Just picking!

Weekend review

We didn't do much this weekend since it was rainy and foggy. Yesterday Ashley and I took the babies to a birthday party at The Little Gym. The babies really do love going there even if I am not ready to brave it by myself, so I took Ashley along. When we got there Lily and Preston were instantly greeted by the birthday girls older sister (6). She held Lily's hand the whole time and motioned her to sit in the circle, play with the ball or jump on the bouncy thing. Lily just kept looking at her with such admiration, it was really cute. Preston just wanted to do his own thing. He loved walking on the balance beam though.

Disclaimer: The pictures are not the best since I had to use the point and shoot which now stays in Ashley's purse and is dropped pretty often.
