Home for the Holidays!!!!

I literally took the suitcases out this morning. This week has been so busy. With us doing our Christmas last Sunday, then me trying to finish up some last minute gifts before leaving. Me and the twins will actually be staying in Texas until Jan. 16th. I am attending a retreat for CCMand hosting a baby shower for my friend Jenn, who is pregnant with boy/girl twins. So instead of flying back I figured it would be best to just extend this trip and do it all while I was there. Of course this also means I have to be fully prepared for the shower, retreat, Christmas, and New Year's. I think I am all done now and completely packed. I finished the last load of clothes, zipped the last suitcase but now what's for dinner. I guess this is a night we will order in.

Even though it's been busy I love that I can take the kids outside to enjoy the snow. It doesn't take as long this year to get them bundled up and they love going outside. Once we get done putting on socks, boots, gloves, snow pants, jackets and hats it's time to head out. Here is a cute video I took yesterday and a few pictures of our snow man.

Our weekend

We had a super weekend. On Saturday we attempted to go to Ashley's cheer competition. THe doors were to open at 12:30 and the competition starts at 1. Well with these things they always run late so I told Aaron we should get there about 1 so that there won't be a long line, WRONG! Ashley called when we were about 5 minutes away and said the line is so long and the gym is at capacity so they 50 or so people waiting in line won't be able to come in until people stat leaving. I thought ok great we will just go and wait in line and as the competition goes on people will leave after their kid performs. A small detail I didn't know as that Ashley was 2nd so we didn't get to see her. It was a huge cluster with 5 schools competing in a gym at an elementary school, you do the math. She didn't mind that we missed her and decided to stay. Aaron and I went and ran some errands then went back later to pick her up.

Sunday morning Aaron woke me up saying there is pack ice in the bay. My first thought was what's that shining into our house revealing all that dust. Oh it's the sun! We went downtown to eat breakfast and then to Signal hill to take some pictures of all the ice that has travelled thousands of mile to amuse the people. We also went to Cape Spear and got some really great shots. I have found this cool website that is an animation that shows where the ice is. I am on the hunt for icebergs this year. Last year we only saw a few since we didn't get here until July. I am hoping that when my friends come to visit in 10 days there will be a few to see.  

Today is day 1 of the babies sleeping in the same room during nap time. Not going well!  They do so great at bed time. We put them in their bed and they go to sleep. At nap time it's the complete opposite. Today they babbled, played and laughed for about an hour until I decided to separate them. Now here it is 3:30 and Lily is sleeping but Preston isn't. I can here him in there playing with his music dinosaur and talking to himself.  Joy.... maybe I will just take them for a walk later since the sun is out. We will try again tomorrow. 

Finally

We finally got what I call a winter storm. Since we have moved to Newfoundland we have heard horror stories of the winters here. This is what I pictured:

This is the basement level about a 2 foot build up.
Still not as bad as I thought it would be. I hope I am not jinxing us now. I think further into the city there is probably alot more snow because it doesn't have many places to blow so it builds up.

On a different note, I am a busy little bee planning our Texas/Louisiana trip. We were originally going to come in May but due to some change in the wedding plans we are coming in later in the summer so the kids and I can stay about 3 weeks and not have to worry about the amount of school Ashley is missing. Aaron will come in for as long as he can take off work.

We have also decided to move our Disney trip from Feb 2010 to this November over the U.S Thanksgiving holiday. We are going with my sister and her family and wanted to make sure her daughter didn't miss any school. I am so excited to take the kids to Disney. I know they will be young and Ashley is a little older but they will enjoy it and hey who says we won't go back. My first trip to Disney was 9 years ago when Ashley was 5, she remembers most of the trip and we have lots of pictures and memories. I actually just got done with her Disney scrapbook, hey better late than never, right!

Another blast from old man winter

Yesterday we woke up to about 5 inches of snow. For the first time I had to clear the drive way. Aaron caught an early flight to Halifax so if I was going anywhere I had to learn to use the snow blower and move that snow! I decided I would clear the drive way after the babies went down for their morning nap, around 10. I got all bundled up goofy hat and all. (hehe) It wasn't as hard as I originally thought. I guess the look of a big piece of machinery or anything that says horsepower is enough to scare most women. Once I figured out the wind direction and which way the chute needed to point to avoid snow coming back and pounding me in the face I was good. Seriously the whole snow in the face is not fun, now that you have that vision, picture a car driving by as you are being pounded in the face by flying snow. I am sure it was obvious to the people passing by that this was my first snow.
Looking at the weather tonight we are expected to get another storm tomorrow with 5 to 7 inches, thank god Aaron is back!
