A few pics

Things have settled down around here. We are in a routine sort of. The kids love their school. Preston and Lily go on Tuesdays and Thursdays to a little preschool close by. It is so nice to have 10 hours a weeks to myself with no kids. I get so much done. I find that I have my lists and am so quick to go in and out of a store when usually I would love to just take my time and browse. Ashley applied and got a lifeguard position for our neighborhood pool. She can't start until she has completed the 32 hours of training. She did half last weekend and will do the other half this weekend. It will be so good for her to have a job and to be able to see why it's called work. You actually have to work and be somewhere on time and you get rewarded with a pay check. I kept with the theme I had in Newfoundland and still do my playgroups on Wednesdays it's just with different moms. We have been planning to go to the zoo but it's been hot and we have 2 moms that aren't going to do will in the heat. One is 7 months pregnant and the other has 3 month old twins. Maybe the children's museum is in our future. :) Let me see what else is going on....... I am counting down the days until my girls weekend away. Most the girls on my dad's side of the family are going to New Braunfels to go toobing on the river. To be honest I don't care what we do I am just happy to get away to recharge. Aaron has been coming home on a regular basis although he is still working in Newfoundland he should be in Calgary soon. He has been home since last Friday, when he leaves it will take a few days to readjust to him being gone.
So that's about it for us. Here are a few pictures taken recently.

Our weekend at the farm, ranch, country

It's been called many things over the years but in our family when you say we are going to the farm, ranch or country we all know what you mean. We had a fabulous weekend at our family ranch. This ranch has been owned by my grandparents for 30 years. A 110 acres of hills, grass, trees, wild life, cows and fresh air. I love going up there and love it even more that my kids get to go up and make precious memories like I did when I was growing up. We headed out for the 2 hour drive right after Ashley got out of school Friday. Just the drive up there is peaceful..... even with the crying 2 year olds in the back seat. My brother and his 2 kids met us there and my dad has been there for a few weeks helping out my grandparents. My grandparents have lived on the farm for, I think, 30 years but in the past few years have needed some help from the family to maintain the land and house. My grandmother fell and broke her hip about 3 weeks ago but has made a great recovery from her injuries. I hope I am that strong at 88 years old. So here are some pictures of our weekend. Sorry for the picture overload, I couldn't decide on any favorites.

What we've been up to

Last Saturday we headed out to the country to see if we could find any bluebonnets. Unfortunately they were all faded away. We did get to eat at my favorite little country eatery, Bevers Kitchen. I love this place for it's comfort food and over the top desserts. Check out the size of those cookies:

Sunday we turned on the sprinkler and let the kids run wild. Here is Lily and Preston with cousin Jakob and Katharine.

Hello from Texas

No we did not get crushed by falling moving boxes. We are alive and well. We spent last week with the movers, unpacking and making our house a home. The last part is still a work in progress. We do however have all the main things: beds, couch/love seat, fridge, washer and dryer. I have not taken a single picture since March 26th. I have some from Easter that were taken at Nana's house but I need to sort through them and put them on here. The main thing is we love our house and we love our neighborhood. We have loved going out in the back yard and not coming in until the sun goes down. On a sad note, our cat Kiki has been missing for 4 days. We kept him inside for a few days so he would get used to his surrounding and I saw him outside hanging out once we let him out. Now though he is missing. I hope he still has his collar on that shows he is microchipped, maybe someone will take him to the vet to get him scanned if he is found.
It's late thought I would update. Take Care!

Safe in Texas

I attempted to do this post from my cell phone but couldn't figure it out. So we made it safe to TX last Thursday. I closed on the new house on Friday and have been busy ever since. I have managed to hook up all the utilities, register the twins for pre school and spend some time with my favorite munchkins. We did have a little hiccup when I went to the house with my new keys and none of them worked. Luckily the front door was UNLOCKED. I am meeting a lock smith Thur to get all the locks changed and new keys at the expense of Meritage homes since they can only seem to find one key that works one lock on the back door. I have lots of things scattered around at my sisters and my brothers house. I am going to make a trip over to the house tomorrow to bring some stuff.
Aaron arrives on Thur and we will head to Louisiana for some rest, relaxation and CRAWFISH! I can't wait. I have no idea when our stuff will arrive, we were hoping for the week that Aaron is here but we will have to see. I will keep you updated, just wanted to tell you I am alive and well and very busy.

Texas

Well we have a closing date of March 26th. We were supposed to close on February 22nd but Aaron flew down and waited for 2 weeks before he heard that closing was not going to be anytime soon. Hopefully the 26th is the date and we won't have any more problems. Either way we are all flying down with the cat on the 25th. Now that it's happening so fast I am getting nervous. I don't know why though it's not like I have to do anything. Well a few things here and there like dry cleaning and buying the perfect picture I have been eyeballing. Hopefully my husband will buy it for me before Monday. I love the bright vibrant colors of downtown with Signal Hill in the background and the iceberg in the harbor. It's everything I love about Newfoundland. It's a photo on canvas, what do you think about it?

The movers will be here Monday and will load on Tuesday, they say it will take 2-3 weeks for our stuff to arrive in Houston. I am so ready just to be settled. Of course the past few days here in Newfoundland have been amazingly beautiful. Right now it's 41 and clear blue skies. We spent a few hours outside today having a picnic lunch and let the kids run around and burn some of that pent up winter energy!

Silent Sunday!

Preston finally got a hair cut. He was sooooo good. he sat completely still and let the lady cut away. Of course it should be a little shorter in the front but oh well. I wish he wasn't so afraid of the buzzer or I would just buzz it my self. I guess this is the best you can do with only scissors. Yup this is the only picture I have taken in almost 2 weeks.

Pinch Me

When I was a little girl dreaming about how my life would be I never imagined it would be so wonderfully blessed. I am so proud of my kids, my husband and my life.

Look how beautiful my daughter is and talented she made the dress she is wearing, here's how: I took an old blanket and cut it and made a bow then I tied knots down the back of it... then put a head band around it.. and spray painted it.

I recently got a phone call that my name was selected to win a free session with a local photographer. I figured it would be a great way to waste a morning plus get some pics of the twins. We have only taken family pictures once and have never had the twins pictures taken. These aren't the best but at least we have some cute pics showing their personality. When we get back down to Texas we will have some really cute pics taken by Freckles Fotography......... I can't wait!

Silent Sunday!

Kiki snuck up from the basement. I guess he has cabin fever too. I open the door for him to go outside and he runs the other direction.

Just another day in paradise!

Y e a r i g h t! I hate this weather. The twins had their last day of swimming so like a good mommy I went in the pool with them and then HAD to go to Wal Mart to buy diapers. The weather has been crap all week and I have been putting it off for days. Freakin sucks because the kids hate wearing their jackets in their car seats so it's take the jackets off, put the kids in, drive to the bank, take the kids out, put jackets on, go back to car, take jackets off, drive to wal mart, take kids out, put jackets on, run through parking lot while being hit in the face by freezing rain, go into Wal Mart get the stuff we need oh no Preston lost his boot. Go to customer service make an announcement for boys green frog boot. No such luck. Find frog boot in the clearence section by the toys. Run back to car oh no I parked over the drain thing, stand in ankle deep water removing coats and strapping wet screaming kids into car seats. Get into car turn radio up so I can't hear the wet screaming kids and take a deep breath and drive home. Both kids asleep before we get on the highway! Ahhhhh peace.

What have we been up too?

Not much. We have been going to playgroup, McDonald's, the YMCA. For the most part we have been trying to stay busy playing and getting ready for the move. The weather last week was pretty nice so we got out a few days but this week has been rainy with temps around 35. Here are a couple of videos to hold you over until I have something interesting to blog about.
